Description
Dates: July 8-9, 2023
Time: 10 am – 6 pm + optional evening activities
LANDSCAPE ELEMENTS is a unique intensive 2-day multi-media plein air painting workshop with Yulia Tsinko. It will be held in a gorgeous mountain lake setting of the charmingly rustic Oyama Lake Eco Lodge. Our weekend will consist of exploring our magical locale, a series of mini-lectures, demos, painting assignments targeted to your individual level and LOTS of art making.
Drawing from both her natural sciences and painting background, Yulia will guide you through the main elements of a successful landscape painting. You’ll look in detail in turn at sky and clouds, trees and foliage, water and reflections, wild flower meadows, atmospheric perspective, composition, sketching for painting, and in the end all the elements will come together. Particular attention will be given to challenges and rewards that come from painting outside with different mediums and how best to address them. The demos will be done in variety of mediums, including oil, acrylic, watercolor and india ink.
As an added bonus there will be an optional sunset painting session on Saturday and a show and tell post-workshop bonfire on Sunday, where you’ll get to share what you’ve created over the weekend.
Level of instruction will be targeted to the level of the participants. Whether you are a seasoned artist looking to expand on your knowledge or a complete beginner, you’ll be right at home, challenged just the right amount and guaranteed to walk away with new found skills and understanding of the natural world.
Materials: Bring whatever painting medium(s) you are most comfortable with or want to get better at, whether acrylic paint, oil or watercolors, along with some pencils and sketchbooks. More detailed suggested supplies list will be included in your confirmation email that you will receive after registering. A variety of additional supplies will also be available on hand for you to play with if you want to try a new medium (India ink, anyone?).
Accommodation and meals are not included but snacks, coffee and non-alcoholic refreshments will be available during the workshop. If you want to stay right on location at the beautiful Oyama Lake Eco Lodge, make sure to book early, as it fills up quickly.
